A 73-year-old man’s spotless driving record nearly got him off the hook during a traffic stop Tuesday night… until he tried to snort cocaine right in front of an incredulous officer.
Officer Nic Abts-Olsen was patrolling in the Colman neighbourhood (Seattle , U.S.A) around 8:30 PM when a man in a silver Toyota drove past him with his headlights off.
In what was a routine traffic stop, the officer returned to his vehicle for standard checks and expected to issue a warning. As officer Abts-Olsen observed returned to the stopped Toyota, the offender portioning cocaine from a small glass vial. Disturbed by the Abts-Olsen’s return, the driver spilt the drugs over his hands and the floor of the vehicle.
The driver initially denied having any cocaine, claiming that he had “vitamins” in his possession…. Vitamin C perhaps?
“Thats not vitamin pills,” snaps back officer Abts-Olsen.
“What would possess you to do that on traffic stop with a police officer right behind you? I just dont understand,” he said.
Finally, after a short discussion, the man relented, complimented Officer Abts-Olsen on his keen detection skills and admits that snorting cocaine in the middle of a traffic stop was not the smartest decision to make.
The incident was captured from the in-car surveillance camera.
